So trying to sort out the money side of doing all this crap is a bit of a mare. Discuss...

Alex is just messing. I meant working out how much money you've taken/spent etc... it just gets complicated with distro-ing and trading and pre-orders and distribution and everything. It's a pain in the arse..

I use a small business accounting book from WH Smith to do all the //IR accounts - its pretty simple really! Guess as we dont use our distro much anymore it makes this a lot simpler. With work and stuff, I dont really have the time to do a label and distro anymore, so its kinda just all focused on getting our own releases out..

I looked into some basic accounting software but it seems a bit too in depth/advanced for what we really need.... I think if I ever get stuck I'll just ring my mum's friend who's an accountant and offered to help...which is useful..

as most of my stuff is paypal i keep all my emails and you can download / print your paypal statements too. i also keep all my postage receipts and stiff like that. i'm not overly bothered for keeping exact accounts, i dont sell enough for any one to be bothered

I dont know Podge.. if the taxman knows your making cash behind his back and finds out, he'd have you for it.

i suppose it depends on how you define 'making cash' as i'm yet to make a profit on anything, i'm too nice to make money out of people. i have a record of everything in and out, its just a very messy pile of a record. i'm sure one day i'll be on here moaning about how i should have kept it all up to date but bugger it, i have better things to be doing than putting a couple of hundered emails / orders in to a spreadsheet
